THE OUTNET launches an upcycled capsule with fashion brand, Cecilie Bahnsen
THE OUTNET is launching an 8-piece upcycled capsule with Scandinavian fashion brand, Cecilie Bahnsen. The collection focuses on the brands classic silhouettes crafted with a chic black, white, pale pink and yellow colour palette. Utilising unique fabrics from the brands previous seasons such as the floaty mist matelassé as seen on the Karmen dress and the light yet solid mistral seersucker used to create the voluminous silhouette on the Hooda dress, this capsule stays true to the signature handwriting of Cecilie Bahnsen.
“This project in partnership with THE OUTNET is focused on bringing back pieces that we love. The styles are pulled from the Spring Summer 2020 collection, which is one of my favourite collections and still inspires us today. In the studio we up-cycle materials from past seasons, breathing a new life into them since each material we use is so precious and unique. Silhouettes are brought back to life in the most beautiful ways, where a sense of timelessness is brought about. The brand is continuously striving towards a minimum waste model, creating pieces that last, that live outside of trends and that are cherished in the everyday.”

Q&A

Q&A
Describe your design aesthetic. What are your hero pieces?
My design aesthetic has always been characterized through the power and strength found in romance and femininity. This sensitivity is complimented through a modern lens along with the simplicity and pragmatism of my Scandinavian heritage. Some of our most notable pieces are the Uma Dress, Selena Top as well as our Fryd Bag and Sara Shoes.
What would you describe as your brand superpower? What makes you stand out from everyone else?
I believe the brand has a unique approach to looking at the way in which women dress themselves, in bringing out their distinct individuality through the pieces we create. We pride ourselves in being able to invite the intricate details of couture into the everyday. In pairing a dress with a set of trousers and sneakers, tucking the billowing skirts with an easy knit. The remarkable fabrics which are meticulously sourced and then designed into its effortless silhouette. Pieces for Monday as well as for the weekend, and every day in between.
How important is taking a considered approach to fashion? What does that mean to you?
I find myself being quite dedicated to having a considered and responsible approach to fashion, where my team and I choose to create every piece with intention. Finding the best solutions to create something beautiful, while also limiting its impact on our environment and its people. We have a number of pieces that were created through an up cycled lens, using materials from our archives to create and design something that feels entirely new. We acknowledge that the path to responsibility is ongoing one, where new lessons are learned every step of the way, but we continue to grow as we continue to focus on this in our industry.
